Your home decor choices are important, of course—but for more than just looks. While certain design decisions may be unintentionally making you cranky(we're looking at you, cluttered entryways), others can be seriously beneficial to your health. Sound too good to be true? Allow us to introduce you to salt lamps (or re-introduce you, as the case may be).
Chunks of pure Himalayan salt are placed over a lightbulb to create the geometric pieces, which give off a mesmerizing orange glow. And while these lamps date back to the late 80s, they're about to make a major comeback.

These lamps are said to generate negative ions, which neutralize toxins, cleansing the air. It's the same natural reaction that's responsible for the fresh air at the top of a waterfall or after a lightening storm. And considering you likely have electric devices like computers and microwaves in your home that are linked to problems like stress and sleep trouble, it's time for some quality air control. People have reported benefits ranging from improving allergies to boosting overall mood.

And if the natural health benefits haven't yet convinced you to get your own salt lamp, their unique design will do the trick. They're basically an adult version of lava lamps—adding one of these pieces to any room in your house will get your guests talking.
